Hallo,

That's as hard to understand as why anyone is still using Intellicad 2001.

I wish to put a hole into a 3D model. It is a bent plate.

I would try the following:
- constructing the plate
- constructing a cylinder with a diameter of the hole
- substract the cylinder from the plate

But I can't find the function for substracting!

Any suggestions?

You probably need a proper 3d program, I don't know much about them but
I don't believe Icad or Acad are much good for it. The only command I
know to do something like that in Icad is Hide.
I read this recently;-
"Bricsys has signed an OEM with Spaceclaim and we are working on a first
integration between Bricscad and Spaceclaim. We make the bundle
available soon"

well, hide isnt going to do it. but, if you purchased the pro version
that had solid modeling built in, you could use the subtract command.
If you bought a version that didnt have solid modeling included you
are pretty much out of luck.

Those versions back then were right after the ITC took over from Visio
and each member had to negotiate their own solids license from ACIS.
Now the ITC has a license where any member who wishes to can get ACIS
for one low price. Not all the members ship ACIS with their versions
however. These are usually the Pro versions and cost a bit more than
the standard versions but also contain photorealistic rendering,
Raster'image insertion and editing, VBA programming, and other
features. But, buyer beware, be sure of what you are buying. Recently
a new reseller appeared on the scene selling for DP technology (Data
Prompt) called Rolek. They claim to sell a Pro version of IntelliCAD
but are really lieing about it. It contains none of the pro features.

We have started calling ours Honest CAD as a nickname. heheh.

It may be time to upgrade your version of IntelliCAD. progeCAD offers
an upgrade from any CAD system which yours would fall under due to its
age and the unknown manufacturer. Just be sure whomever you upgrade
with that the product actually has what you need to do your work.

Thanks,
