best free/trial variation?

Which vendor's intellicad trial version is the best?
Best meaning no expiration date, least buggy, most enabled features, etc. In
fact, for the sake of least buggy, I prefer a version that is closest to the
intellicad consortium's distribution.

Is it true the source code is available for free? If so, why isn't there a
completely free version like other open source projects?

Well, I sure would be interestet if you would work out a well- functioning
( in the meaning you state below) version based on the source code - that
is if it is free off course...

;) Jens

Only teasing..

It used to be available, but not now. I believe trial versions have no
limitations... they just expire. Why not ask the Consortium for a copy of
their "distro", and why they don't work for free?

Well, I didn't get thee original post so can't reply directly to him. Sure
looks like he wants something for nothing.

There's a lot of open source software around, I think he was just enquiring
about the status of Intellicad source code. It used to be freely available,
in fact I used to have a copy. No idea where it is now though.

It's very easy to give or get the wrong impression from a short email/usenet
message...

As for his question, I think Bricscad and Cadopia are very good. I have no
idea which ones are closest to the consortium's code, or whether that makes
them any more or less buggy. The best thing to do is to test them all and see
how they fit your requirements. I ended up doing that for my employer and
chose Bricscad. There wasn't much difference between them though, and as they
all do their own development one can overtake another in features at any
time.

Hi All,

IntelliCAD latest version of source code is no more free to download
unless some one has made it publicly downloadable, ITC maintance the
source code and distributes it to the vendors,

So the core IntelliCAD will be the same from all the vendours, The only
difference is the extra commands which the vendors provide, BrisCAD and
CADopia are some good vendors with lot of options and tools.

To tell a little about me, I have been working on IntelliCAD source
code for different vendors for several years, I have my own company
www.plus4cad.com which deals with the programming of CAD programs. I
create tools or addons for IntelliCAD, AutoCAD, 3D Max, Maya, Inventor,
ProE, Rhino and many other CAD softwares in market today.

We are specialized in Customizing CAD products to suit the requirements
of the customers all round the world. The website www.plus4cad.com is
underconstruction
and will be launched very soon

Thanks!

Progecad LT from http://www.progesoft.com is available at no kost.
It does have some limitations but is does not expire.
