...and how do I import Acad commands, menus or toolbars. Is it
possible. I get the feeling it is, but I'm having no luck so far.

Right click on an empty spot of the toolbar area and the menu customisation
thing comes up. Under the Menu tab you can load a different one (icm, mnu,
mns) but Icad doesn't use Text menus down the side - I had to come to grips
with that but it's really superfluous when you can have pop-down text menus.

I was getting quite the opposite problem. Often times, some architect
or electrical engineer would have theirown custom menu and commands.
When I received their plan via Internet, it would not load up because
many of those elements were not present on my computer. You then have
to get onto the telephone and explain for them to ship a simple file.

How do you get the file to load up when you are in a hurry, and omit
those custom menus?

I have never known a file to not load because a menu was missing. I often
receive files without required xrefs, they load but there's nothing much to
see. Nothing can compensate for not having the xref, you just have to call
them and go through the whole rotten story. And it's often not the person
who drew it and they don't understand, that's why they left it out the first
time.
