Hello all,

I've been using Cadopia v 5 Standard for several months now. With some
help from the good people in this newsgroup I've become reasonably
proficient, and can get done what I need.

Thing is, now I need to draw more complicated stuff that is begging for
3-D. What I'm wondering is the trade-off between BricsCad 6 Pro, which
IIRC has 3-D for somewhere in the US$500 range, and Alibre at $1000.

Is there somebody out here who knows what may be the benefit of
spending an extra $500 ? My biggest concern is drawing compatibility
with vendors who use considerably higher-end software eg SolidWorks,
recently I worked with a vendor who sent me eDrawings to review and
that was pretty handy too -- if I could convert my drawings to
eDrawings so non-CAD folks could view them that would be another
benefit.

Thanks in advance for any tips and guidance,

Go with Alibre. Intellicad (and Autocad) are good 2D programs but are entry
level, at best, for 3D. Parametrics, you will find, will greatly speed
changes and modifications. The ability to generate 2D prints from a 3D model
is something that Intellicad presently can't do. Ease and speed of modeling
is much better in programs designed for it.
